Allison's talk, titled "Field Guide to Caring for a Developer", will examine the state of mental health awareness within tech and discuss strategies and resources to improve it on both a personal and community level. WordCamp Halifax takes place on May 27th, and tickets will go on sale any day now and are likely to sell out; follow their Twitter account to stay informed about when registration opens. Be sure to give us a shout if you plan to attend.
Since accidentally becoming a mental health speaker in the fall of 2016, Nara has been working on a new, more fleshed-out talk about mental health in tech titled "Empathy As A Service: Supporting Mental Health in the Tech Workplace". She'll be debuting this talk at Self.conference 2017 in Detroit, MI on May 19-20. If you're planning to attend Self.conference, let us know! Nara would love to meet up with you and talk all things OSMI.
Many of the other speakers are longtime supporters as well. If you're attending Midwest PHP, be sure to look for our booth, where we'll be available to talk all things OSMI.
A couple of months ago, we announced that OSMI is an approved charity on AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is a program where Amazon donates 0.5% of every eligible sale to a non-profit organization of your choice. There is no extra cost to you!
Today only (March 16, 2017), Amazon is holding a special promotion where instead of donating 0.5% of all sales, they'll donate 5% instead! So now is a great time to make that Amazon purchase you've been putting off. Buy what you need (or just want 😉) and help out OSMI in the process. Just remember to shop Amazon from our AmazonSmile link!
